About the Day

Every year, on October 31, India observes National Unity Day, also known as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. This significant day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a pivotal figure in India's struggle for independence and the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India.

Renowned for his exceptional leadership and unyielding commitment to national integration, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is fondly remembered as the "Iron Man of India." National Unity Day serves as a reminder of his efforts to unite the diverse princely states into a single nation and fosters a spirit of solidarity among the people of India.

National Unity Day Events

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas–2026 celebrations at Ekta Nagar will feature a grand Rashtriya Ekta Parade, showcasing India’s unity, integrity, cultural heritage, folk arts, traditions, and the spirit of unity in diversity.

Citizens will also have the opportunity to participate in and witness the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade. A dedicated website, www.rashtriyaektadiwas.com, has been launched to facilitate free online registration for citizens wishing to participate in the parade.

Citizens can register online and provide the required information and documents. After completing the registration process, a confirmation/entry pass will be sent to the registered email address. Registration will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and entry for citizens will be completely free.

The parade will feature approximately 10,000 personnel from police and paramilitary forces, cultural performances by approximately 4,700 artists from different states, a spectacular flypast by the Indian Air Force, patriotic performances by various bands, and an address by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Proposed Parade Route: The parade will start from Narmada Mata Statue and conclude near Replica Garden, close to SRP Colony.

Special Accommodation at Dome City

Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited (TCGL) will provide accommodation facilities for visitors attending Rashtriya Ekta Diwas–2026 and Bharat Parv–2026 at Ekta Nagar.

A special ‘Dome City’ is being planned at Ekta Nagar, with accommodation available from October 29, 2026, to November 15, 2026. Online booking facilities will be available for visitors attending both Rashtriya Ekta Diwas–2026 and Bharat Parv–2026, subject to availability.

Promotion Through Gujarat Tourism

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas–2026 website and citizen participation initiative will be promoted through the official social media accounts of Gujarat Tourism, with the objective of reaching more citizens and encouraging participation in the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Parade.
